project overview

Loop is connecting Orlando like never before. With the latest technologies and new infrastructure, Loop is bringing more to the modes of getting around. Orlando’s new railway system creates more opportunity and access to the city with countless stops and more efficiency than just buses.

To support this, Loop introduces an app that allows users to navigate the city while utilizing the new Loop routes inherently. The app allows riders to gain entrance to stations via in-app payments.

This project was created under the mentorship of Michael Forrest and through the AIGA Orlando Mentorship Program.

design process

The process began in response to the prompt “building bridges within the community.” Orlando struggles immensely with access to reliable public transportation so creating a company to fill that gap posed an exciting challenge.

Surveys were conducted to understand the attitude that residents of Orlando have towards the current options for public transport like Lynx and the Sunrail. Most respondents felt as if taking public transport was unreliable, inconvenient, and not user-friendly. These served as the foundation that Loop would find its success.

Final thoughts

This project was unique in its scope in comparison to how I’ve worked in the past. My mentor Michael helped to guide me in the direction that I truly wanted to go down which led me to an invaluable experience not only with the work itself, but in the evolution of my personal design process.

Loop is something I’m incredibly proud of creating. I experienced huge creative block for the majority of this project at almost every step of the way, so to create something that still supports the vision I had, proves that even in difficult times, I can create work that solves problems.

The next steps for Loop include building the app out with more flows and creating its design system in Figma.

A huge thank you to my mentor Michael Forrest. Your encouragement, excitement, critique, and validation were immensely important and I’m so grateful for the experience.
